Chiffon Calm by Austen Tosone
3.2.1 Quote Me
The stage is set – Yanni’s world music playing in the background – here begins the Quote-Me-Challenge which Kamal at Boundless Blessings has graciously placed upon me – with fond gratitude!
HOPE IS THE TOPIC FOR TODAY
My first quote is foundational in that it comes from the Prophet Jeremiah 17:7
‘BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO TRUSTS IN THE LORD,
WHOSE HOPE IS THE LORD.”
Put simply, what may seem impossible for us to achieve, only God can provide so long we place our trust in Him to do so.
My ‘impossible something’ that I hope for will be the reunification with my Christopher, if not in this world, but through all eternity.
Second quote comes from Fr. Jacques Philippe of the French Community of Beatitudes, a well-known author on the spiritual life.
“Lacking Hope, we don’t really believe God can make us happy, and so we construct our happiness out of covetousness and lust.
We don’t wait to find the fullness of our existence in God, and so we shape an artificial identity grounded in pride…we are held back by fears, hesitations and worries.
Lack of trust in what God’s grace can do in our lives leads to a shrinkage of the heart. The remedy is to rekindle our hope, to rediscover a new trust in what God can do for us – no matter how weak and wretched we are.
Hope is a Choice that often demands an effort. It is easier to worry, get discouraged, be afraid. Hoping means trusting. When we hope we are not passive: we are acting.”
Fr. Jacques Philippe’s 9 books are well worth perusing.
Thank you, Amira and Kamal, for your ‘hopeful’ thoughts to pass on to others.
My next ‘Hope’ is for these three faithful Bloggers of mine to pick up the baton for HOPE:
