Augustine of Hippo

Early Christian Theologian and Philosopher

5 of his remarkable Quotes

“People travel to wonder at the height of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars; and they pass by themselves without wondering.”

“The world is a great book, of which they that never stir from home read only a page.”

“What does love look like?  It is the hands to help others.  It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy.  It has eyes to see misery and want.  It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men.  That is what love looks like.”

“Love the sinner and hate the sin.”

“Late have I loved you, O Beauty ever ancient and ever new!  Late have I loved you!  And, behold, you were within me, and I out of myself, and there I searched for you.”

On the Listening Trail

Gone are my former ‘career’ days

As I follow along a golden moon above

As I journey to listen to His voice:

“This is my Son, the Beloved, listen to him.”

As my love grows, so does my hearing.

I heard a sweet calling  – “Ma Cherie”

My mother calling me to have a beautiful day.

…when I woke up, I figured she was pleased with the story I had just written, soon to be posted in October…

Contemporary Angel Sculptures by Ivan Guaderrama

An Ancient Irish Poem Honoring

Saints Gabriel, Michael and Raphael – September 29

May Gabriel be with me on Sundays, and the power of the King of Heaven.

Michael on Monday I speak of, my mind is set on him.

If it be Tuesday, Raphael I mention, until the end comes, for my help.

These great Archangels lead the 9 choirs of angels

Gabriel, Strength of God

Michael, Defender of God’s People

Raphael, Healer for All…pray for us

Psalm 103

“You walk on the wings of the wind, you make the winds your messengers and flashing fire on your servants.”

Barn Window Peering Through Time by Janine Riley

In The Light of The World

Dawn’s first ray of light gently awakens my senses

Mockingbirds sweetly chirp their chorus

My heart fills up with hopeful offerings

I know my ancestors hear me – their eternal-ness bolsters me

The aroma of cinnamon coffee prompts me

Majestic is the world around me

Crows land on dewy grass pecking for worms; squirrels tizzy about from the tree tops

It’s time to live, pray and love

Yes, Lord – your scribe is ready
