The Persistence of Memory by Salvador Dali 1931

I vividly recall studying this Catalonian Surrealist painter during my college studies which ignited my passion for all forms of art, even this one.  My first impression of Dali’s ‘melting clocks’ was ‘how weird.’  Now I am less shocked by his uncanny interpretation  of how the mind and memory work, especially during dreams.  His flat clocks spread out in a desert may not seem as crazy as some of my strange dreams.  The manner in which Salvador Dali painted ‘surrealism’ complements what he said:

“Have no fear of perfection – you’ll never reach it.”

The “perfection of imperfection” makes us timeless, tossing out the boring and oddly contradicts the adage that ‘practice makes perfect.’
