SUMMER BLUES

Pont Sur Le Lot

HAIBUN

In 1905 Andre’ Derain and Henri Matisse spent a summer in Provence, my childhood romping grounds.  Immediately recognizing this setting with fond memories.  Breaking away from the Impressionists, these two artists began the Fauvism period by creating bold, vibrant but strangely irreverent brushstrokes of color of the Midi landscapes with wild beasts.  This art is milder in technique.
