Veterans Day

The barber enlisted soldier was carrying a message to the front line when a barrage of bullets killed him on July 28, 1918.  A diary was found in his shirt now famously known as “My Pledge.”  Martin August Treptow wrote:

America must win this war.  Therefore, I will work, I will save, I will sacrifice, I will endure.  I will fight cheerfully and do my utmost, as if the issue of the whole struggle depended on me alone.”

A duplicate of this pledge rests in the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

Thank you, all veterans, who have served and died for our good nation.
