“No weather is ill, if the wind be still.”

–The Old Farmer’s Almanac

I don’t know about you, but I get excited at each new month because my senses are tickled with wonderful traditions.

If today is fair, September will be glorious.  If it pours ‘cats and dogs,’ drought will follow.  If on September 19th there comes a storm from the south, the winter will be mild.  If on St. Michael’s day there are many acorns on the ground, the fields will be covered in snow for Christmas.

When the neighbor’s rooster crows, here comes the rain.  If birds sing in the rain, they prompt fair weather ahead.  If a hawk flies high, the sky is clear.  If it flies low, watch for inclemency.

This is definitely not climate change, but a wonderful expectation of God’s goodness through the weather patterns.

Whatever weather is coming your way for September, I trust it will keep you nourished and protected.
