“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.”

–Hamilton Wright Mabie

The other day I went around shops perusing what commerce wants us to glean from for the holidays.  It was good to see more people milling about.  The air catching them in a frenzy.  As always, this season encourages  us to sprinkle gifts all around.  I began to mentally form my list with the nativity scene as a backdrop.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”  –John 10:10

Holy Spirit inspired, I’ve begun to re-read “The Life of the Blessed Virgin Mary” from the Visions of Venerable Anne Catherine Emmerich, wondering why I never finished the book before.  I am determined to discover the end before Christmas Eve.

To say that this year has been more than overwhelming is understated. However, the crib ought to pull us into Christ’s extravagant love and generosity.  God has given us the greatest gift in the birth of his Son.  As we prepare gifts, meals and reunions with family and friends, let us open our hearts to him in thanksgiving for just being alive.
