VESSELS OF LIGHT

“The light which shines in the eyes is really light from the heart.”

–Rumi

Somehow with less sunshine during Winter can reveal so much between Light and Darkness.  We can become vessels of light by receiving the Son of God to fill the darkness of poverty and loneliness.

THE EVERLASTING GIFT

Advent closes with the gift of the Second Coming of Christ

Holiness descends upon the empty creche.  Why empty?  Because I need to fill it with unfathomable gratitude and compassion for my life.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

–John 3:16

Now I can bring out all the Provençale Santons from the surrounding countryside.   The shepherd with his flock, the baker with a basket full of bread, the woman with fruits and vegetables, the lamb, oxen and sheep, Mary and Joseph adoring the Babe in swaddling cloth, and the Three Kings coming down the hillside.  There are many more figurines to place, those of Christmas past tucked in my heart forever, and I won’t forget to place the Star of Bethlehem above the cave.

Handed down my lineage, my creche looks much like this one:

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

–James 1:17

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father,

THE ‘NADA’ MYSTERY

“Anyone truly in love will let all other things go in order to come closer to the loved one.”

–John of The Cross

This Saint John speaks of the mystery of the empty manger, but I can’t resist placing Baby Jesus in the trough.  I need him to inspire me, to be like him and to love unconditionally as he does.  I hope you need him too.

Yea!  one more day before Christmas Eve…Are you as excited as I am?

AWESTRUCK BY LIFE’S WONDERS

A Christmas Story

Imagine a girlish gaze seeing a gurgling brook streaming down the French Alps.  She is thoroughly refreshed by the pure icy flow and marvels how her childhood is graced though she barely knows God. She grew up in a loving, adventurous family, travelling throughout Europe embracing their special cultures, yet with little time to plant roots.  This spring was her first place to own propelling her into an unexpected adult life.

Psalm 24 asks: “Who shall climb the mountain of the Lord?”

I will, the young woman replied to the Lord, as fledgling wife and mother despite a rocky marriage.  Somehow with no choice but to climb through terrible years, came divorce and freedom or else she would die!  She couldn’t yet comprehend God’s invisible hands stopping her from drowning.  This her second place to own because it was full of miracles in great darkness.

Psalm 24 continues in asking: “Who will stand in His holy place?”

Seasoned as she was, replied, I will dear Lord for He nicknamed her “my daughter of Jerusalem.” True Love caught her by surprise, now happily remarried, strong, flanked by holy friendships; now she abides in this destined place always giving God thanks for His utmost joy residing in her heart…until she breathes her last.

Merry Christmas to One and All!
