A mandala is a diagram of geometric design likely showing the cosmos. Eastern religions create mandalas as a sacred place of worship. Christian mandalas depict the cross, stained glass and the rosary.
Carl Young introduced the mandala to the West to explore the unconscious mind when he stated:
“I sketch every morning in a notebook a small circular drawing. Only gradually did I discover what the mandala really is — the self, wholeness of the personality, which if all goes well is harmonious.”
