ON A FRESH NEW PATH

“Snow has come to stay for a while.  I see it as a crisp new path to becoming a living “Yes!”

–Ft. Joseph-Marie Perrin

This week meteorologists are predicting a severe Winter storm that is crossing from west to east.  For us in the South, the temperatures will drop below freezing.  I’m hoping for some snow!

Like Mother Mary, we are called to “Be it done to me.”

For Heavenly Father, such is your will.

Looking towards 2023, I will contemplate how to embrace those dreams God is preparing for me…LOL!

During a storm, what do you do?

GOING OUT ON A LIMB

“It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you.”

–Teresa of Calcutta

Unlike hummingbirds who can fly upside down, going out on a limb for someone we know or even a stranger can be challenging.  Of late, God has been asking me to do just that.  I know better than to refuse Him.  If He asks me to go out on a limb, it’s for a good reason.

Trying to love someone you find strange and unorthodox is what I presume Saint Teresa speaks about.

“Your desire to live a risk-free life is a form of unbelief.  Your longing to live close to Me is at odds with your attempts to minimize risk.  You are approaching a crossroads in your journey.  In order to follow Me wholeheartedly, you must relinquish your tendency to play it safe.”

–Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

Over time I’ve learned to relax and let God steer my journey as I dare to please Him.

What have you experienced going all out for God?

SUNLIT STREAMS

I heard God say to me today…be contemplative, pray.

Streams of living water.”

“Whoever believes in me, as the Scriptures has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

–John 7:38

I heard God say, ‘come close to me with a pure heart, live a charismatic life, live in the Holy Spirit.  Be an advocate for justice and proclaim my Gospel, most of all, practice the present moment.’

What do you hear God saying to you today?

A HOLY MOMENT

“A ‘holy moment’ is a single moment in which you open yourself to God.”

“You set aside personal preference and self-interest, and for one moment you do what you prayerfully believe God is calling you to do.”

–Matthew Kelly

The text message chimed on my phone.  The test result was positive.  My heart sank as the Spirit reminded me of my calling:  You are a prayer warrior.  Okay, Lord, this is awful news, I will pray harder.

“Sometimes the only available transportation is a leap of faith.”

–Margaret Shepard

Thankfully, I receive this reminder.  I readied to celebrate Sabbath.  There the Word preached to me another holy moment.

“Keep an open mind and God will do the rest.  Believe God over any circumstances.  Fight with prayer.  This is the most important thing to do in life.”

That night in a dream, with an eye-opening sense of God’s humor, a giant of a man forcefully stood guard over me saying, “CHILL.”

Morning came for me to ask what this dream meant, and I understood it was my son’s guardian angel who had spoken this way.

“In the storm focus only on Jesus, not what’s in the storm” says the Lord.

And so, shall I fight with prayer and continue in living in this holy moment and let God do the rest.

Should you find yourself in a similar battle with bad news for yourself or someone you love, take heart, take courage.  Your holy moment is waiting for you as well.

How I love to rest with God every day…so join me as we begin the week of Thanksgiving together.

FINDING JOY IN THE FORK IN THE ROAD

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

–Philippians 4:13

Knowing that God is with you when you work brings joy in all things.

Looking over my life’s career of work, I was blessed with many different types of work.  However, the ones which were tough and somewhat humbling brought me His constant consolation to get me through it all.  He knew what I needed before I figured it out.  I had to give Him my best efforts.

“If God is satisfied with the work, the work may be satisfied with itself.”

–C.S. Lewis

May your work bless you with God’s presence.

TEA TIME

“Tea time is a chance to slow down, pull back and appreciate our surroundings.”

–Letitia Baldrige

Sipping on a variety of hot teas is a favorite pastime of mine.  It pauses me to make sure I live meaningfully.

“One day, you are going to hug your last hug, kiss your last kiss and hear someone’s voice for the last time, but you never know when the last time will be.”

Liver every day as if it were the last time you will be with the person you love.”
