ACHIEVING A GOOD LIFE

In achieving a good life, according to the Dalai Lama, “One should remember that mental transformations take time and are not easy.  Keep it in your mind and make a constant effort, then after 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, you will eventually find some change.”

–The Dalai Lama.  His favorite quotation comes from Shantideva’s book:

“As long as space endures, as long as sentient beings remain, until then, may I too remain and dispel the miseries of the world.”

PS:  I can hear my husband say to me, “Now, now, my grasshopper, be patient.”

YOUR GREATEST DEVOTION

Altar of Devotion by Freydoon Rassouli

GOOD SUNDAY AFFIRMATION

What is your greatest devotion?

From birth a cradle Catholic in France and worshipping in the cathedrals of Europe, I instinctively became awed with God’s presence in my life.  Only when I made America my home did I benefit from being catechized in faith…and what a blessing this has been.

My fervent devotion is to recognize God in everything and everyone he sends my way.  Practicing His presence throughout the day keeps me wired and writing about His goodness is the fruit of this blog, for that is when he surely saves my soul.

Like my favorite mentor, Therese of Lisieux, I am but “a weak reed that cannot break since, no matter what happens to it, it wants only to see the gentle hand of its Jesus.”

I would love to hear what is your greatest devotion in life…and let’s welcome the ‘green’ of March!

A GOOD NEWS FOR OUR TIMES

With a special request from my new friend floweringpoverello, here are 3 consecutive posts from my first blogging days to share some wisdom from Saint Hildegard of Bingen.

“WE CANNOT LIVE IN A WORLD THAT IS INTERPRETED FOR US BY OTHERS.  AN INTERPRETED WORLD IS NOT A HOPE.  PART OF THE TERROR IS TO TAKE BACK OUR OWN LISTENING.  TO USE OUR OWN VOICE.  TO SEE OUR OWN LIGHT.”

“WE SHALL AWAKEN FROM OUR DULLNESS AND RISE VIGOROUSLY TOWARDS JUSTICE.  IF WE FALL IN LOVE WITH CREATION DEEPER AND DEEPER, WE WILL RESPOND TO ITS ENDANGERMENT WITH PASSION.”

“A HUMAN BEING IS A VESSEL THAT GOD HAS BUILT FOR HIMSELF AND FILLED WITH HIS INSPIRATION SO THAT HIS WORKS ARE PERFECTED IN IT.”

“THERE IS THE MUSIC OF HEAVEN IN ALL THINGS.”

How amazing is this Renaissance woman of the 12th Century who can speak to our current age with sound advice!
